Land of the McIntyres in Perry & Letcher County Kentucky

The information on the land of the McIntyres in Perry and Letcher County Kentucky was obtained through various online sources and is intended for personal use only.

2 Oct 1837-2 Oct 1837 (Perry County Kentucky Deed Book B, 140-1). Jeremiah Combs Sr of PC to Elijah COMS Jr., for $650, land on Carr's Fk….above house MCINTIRE now lives in which was a conditional line between John and Jeremiah Combs.. Signed Jeremiah X Combs, Sally X Combs (Abstracted by Sue Elfving from original on microfilm)

16 Mar 1842 (Kentucky Land Grants, Vol. 1, Ch. 6, p661) Benjamin McIntire received a Kentucky Land Grant for 50 acres on Georges Branch in Perry County Kentucky.

22 Aug 1873 (Perry County Kentucky Deed Book D,185). Shadrick Combs of Perry County to W. [William[ M. McINTIRE of same...$30 paid...land in Perry County on the North Fork of the Kentucky River on Big Branch...beginning on 2 sugar trees the corner trees of R. S. BRASHEARS and John BRASHEARS; thence running down branch to the lower end of John L. Combs survey...to include all land between 2 surveys...15 acres more or less. Signed Shadrick Combs (Seal). Grantor acknowledged 22 August 1873 and admitted to record. (Abstracted by Sue Elfving; please see note above on Deed Bk D).

17 Feb 1874 (Perry County Kentucky Deed Book D, 208). Indenture dated 17 Feb. 1874 between Jackson Combs of Perry Co. of the first part and Washington Combs, Diannah McINTYRE, Martha SUMNER, Samuel Combs, Green Combs, Isabel SUMNER, Clarinda Whittaker, Dulcena KELLY, Spencer Combs, Granville Combs, heirs & children of W. S. [L.] Combs, parties of the second part, of Perry County...For $17 in hand paid...land in Perry County on the waters of Carrs Fork...to wit: All my interest in the Estate of my father, Byrum Combs, containing my interest in said Estate be it more or less acres [no acreage specified], together with all & singular... Signed Jackson x Combs (Seal)
Witness: Greenville Combs & R. C. Combs

Deed of Conveyance to Wm L. Combs Heirs was acknowledged by Jackson Combs. 2 Feb. 1873 and admitted to record.  (Transcribed by Sue Elfving; please see note above on Deed Bk D.)

Notes: Jackson Combs was the son of Biram Combs Jr. (See 1858 deed wherein Jackson Combs sold 1/2 his interest in 200a on Carrs Fork that he inherited from his father). Listing Wm.'s daughter Isabel as a SUMNER is an error. She was married to William HAMMON (see 1868 deed). Daughters Clarinda and Dulcena have married since the 1868 deed. This indenture was dated 1874 but the recording date was 1873, obviously an error in one of those dates. Again the Clerk erred on the initial for William showing "S" but he did get closer since "L" and "S" are often very difficult to differentiate.

27 June 1874 (Perry County Kentucky Deed Book D, 323-4). Alexander and wife Mary Combs, and Samuel BRASHEARS to William McINTIRE, all of Perry County....for $470 in hand paid...400 acres more or less in Perry County on the North Fork of the Ky. River...beginning at the Fishing Rock...left hand fork of Dykes Branch...conditional line between Granville Combs and Alexander Combs...to include all the land in said boundary and one half of coal banks excepted to Alexander Combs...signed Alexander Combs (Seal) Mary Combs (Seal). Recorded 8 Aug. 1874. (Abstracted by Sue Elfving; please see note above on Deed Bk. D).
